Position Summary:

Support the execution of Kohl’s public relations consumer brand press campaigns to garner national and regional press for Kohl’s seasonal programs and brands.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Writes press releases and other corporate communication materials for all broad-based consumer brand programs, including, but not limited to, seasonal initiatives, new brand launches, special and celebrity events, internal communications and other press functions.

- Manages and coordinates all sample collection, disbursements and returns.

- Conducts local, regional and national media relations for all consumer brand programs, including, but not limited to, seasonal initiatives, new brand launches, special and celebrity events and other press functions.

- Assists with on-site public relations support at consumer/brand press events, including, but not limited to satellite media tours, on-ground media tours, in-studio interviews, seasonal line reviews, special and celebrity events and other press functions.

- Helps maintain comprehensive editorial fashion and beauty calendars/opportunities.

- Creates and compiles comprehensive seasonal/and or program-oriented clip books.

- Helps coordinate the activities with various external vendor partners and public relations agency.

- Manages media calls and coordinate media responses.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Four-year degree in public relations, journalism or communications.

- Brand media relations.

- 2 years of professional public relations experience.

Ladies Professional Golf Association - Communications Coordinator

This position requires someone with language and cultural skills.  Mr. David Higdon, LPGA Chief Communications Officer, is seeking a Communications Coordinator who can handle a variety of functions within the LPGA’s Communications Department, including corporate communications, media relations, digital media, player promotion, broadcast PR, etc.  The ideal candidate will be able to speak Korean and English fluently.  Please see the attached job description for additional details.

Position Summary:

The Communications Coordinator provides communications services for all areas of department including Corporate Communciations, Media Relations, PR & Player Promotion, Digital Media & Player Promotion, and Television. He/she must manage administrative duties for the Chief Communications Officer and provide value to our staff, player membership and tournaments in all facets of communications. Position is based at LPGA headquarters in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Key Relationships:

Direct report to Chief Communications Officer. Position services all areas of the department—and, by extension, the association—which will rely on her/him to handle important and sensitive  Communications material. Besides the CCO, direction will come from the department’s Directors. Must maintain strong relationships with media, tournaments and all members of the association including LPGA Tour and FUTURES Tour players as well as LPGA Teaching & Club Professionals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Services communications-related inquiries and correspondence from both internal and external (media) sources;
  • Maintains documentation of department’s work and assists in merchandising information to membership and other LPGA stakeholders;
  • Maintains measurement system for department;
  • Assists in Corporate Communications initiatives including stakeholder communications, Commissioner activities, player meetings, etc.
  • Manage administrative, research and database duties for the Chief Communications Officer;
  • Updates and distributes materials for regular distribution to the media, tournaments and LPGA staff including performance charts, tournament summaries, stats page, tee cards, scoring highlights, etc.;
  • Assists with updating and maintaining various LPGA communications department database lists, including media guide distribution and news release recipients;
  • Participates in special events, projects and assignments as requested.

Requirements & Competencies for Success:

  • College degree, preferably in a Communications-related field, with excellent written and verbal communications skills;
  • Fluent in English and preferably at least one other language, ideally one spoken by a large number of LPGA players and tournaments;
  • Service- and people-oriented, with the ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate department needs;
  • Ability to travel when requested, including weekends;
  • Multi-faceted in the Communications field, with experience, skills and interest in several disciplines (Media Relations, Digital Media, TV, PR)
  • Work experience in sports and interest in golf.

Duties: This is a new position at Sanford Brown Institute needing an experienced Librarian to work on the ground floor in the development of a college level library.
-Operation of a college library including the collection development, acquisitions, AACR2 cataloging and circulation of materials.
-Academic Reference services to both Faculty and Students.
-Work in conjunction with Education team in the development of collection needs.
-Creation and Implementation of a Library Advisory Board.
-Assist in student success through educational presentations on electronic resources and databases and assist in the academic advising of students for academic success and retention purposes.
-Work as part of the Education team to ensure the academic success of students. Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications: A Masters Degree in Library Science or Library and Information Studies from an ALA accredited institution.
At least 2 years of experience in library services as a professional Librarian. Knowledge of AACR2 Cataloging Procedures. Experience in Academic or Health Science Libraries preferred.

Career Opportunities in Community Organizing for Communication students at FSU!

DART is now accepting applications for the 2010 DART Organizers Institute – the paid, four-month field school for people interested in launching a career in community organizing. Participants will undergo a combined classroom and field training covering such topics as:

• Entering a community
• Identifying and training local leaders • Strategic planning and issue cutting • Relationship and community building • Direct Action on community issues • Fundraising

The DART Center, has built coalitions throughout the country that have won important victories on a broad set of justice issues including:

• Education reform in low-performing public schools • Job Training • Drugs and Violence • Criminal Recidivism • Living Wage • Neighborhood Revitalization, etc.

The DART Organizers Institute combines a 7-day classroom orientation with 15 weeks of infield training at a DART host organization. This is a paid training program that includes: a $7,000 living stipend, transportation to the classroom orientation and host city, and mileage reimbursement during the infield training.
Room, board, and tuition will also be paid by DART during the 7-day classroom training. After successful completion of the program, DART will work to place graduates into permanent full time salaried positions. Graduates from the DART Organizers Institute have gone onto Associate Community Organizing and Executive Director positions throughout the country.

Although it may be helpful, no direct experience is necessary. Organizer Trainees
(OTs) hired to participate in the DART Organizers Institute must demonstrate a desire to pursue community organizing as a long-term professional career. Candidates must have a college degree or be graduating prior to June 1, 2010. OTs must also have access to a car during their training and be flexible regarding relocation.
Fluency in Spanish/English is a plus and people of color are encouraged to apply.
